AUDITOR PROGRAM - MUSICIANS
The auditor program at the Cortona Sessions for New Music was created as a way to involve musicians who either:
•wish to attend the Cortona Sessions but not be pressured with performance or composition requirements.
•were not accepted as full participants because of space limitations.
•want to learn and experience the festival but either cannot afford the full tuition, or prefer a less structured environment.
Auditor performers are encouraged to bring their instruments and are welcome to perform in improv sessions and on recitals if space is available during the festival. If a particular need for another performer should come up, they may be included in certain premiere performances. Auditor performers will not receive lessons or perform in masterclasses, but the may attend and participate in all festival sessions. For a small extra fee and if time permits, auditor performers may request lessons with Cortona Sessions faculty.
Auditor composers will be able to present their work in participant show-and-tell sessions, attend all lectures, symposiums, and recitals, and may perform their own works on evening concerts should they desire to do so. Auditor composers will not be given premiere performances by performance participants. One of the most valuable aspects of attending as an auditor program is the opportunity to circulate your music and make wonderful friendships with performers and composers for the future.
In addition to participating in Cortona Sessions symposiums and discussions, auditors will also be given round-trip train tickets to Florence for an excursion and will enjoy all other festival events and parties.
AUDITOR/GROUPIE PROGRAMS
GROUPIE PROGRAM
The Cortona Sessions are excited to offer the “Groupie Program” for non-musicians wanting to enjoy the sounds of the Sessions and the sights of Cortona. Groupies include anyone attending the festival with a participant (husband, wife, parent, friend) who is not participating as a musician, as well as interested music-lovers and friends. Groupies will be allowed to sit-in on lessons and coachings (at the discretion of the teacher), attend all masterclasses, lectures, and recitals, and be part of all other festival activities including the welcome banquet, final party, and excursions.
All groupies will receive a round-trip ticket to Florence for the excursion. Groupies will have the opportunity to fully enjoy Cortona and any surrounding Tuscan hill-towns at their leisure throughout the festival.
Please note, in order to attend any festival events, you must be registered with the Cortona Sessions and must stay in the Hotel Oasi Neumann.
